Still Running
04:05
|
|||
I don’t know
If i’m saying hello again
Or am I
Just starting a long goodbye
Drawing it out, drawing it out
Thousands of miles
I have traveled with this pain
Trying to find
That part I could never find
And running away, running away
Just to outrun the hurting
Thirsting for those too brief moments of peace
Keeping alive that strange thing
The hope that lives on on the firing lines
Meeting me here again
Here again
Don’t know why
These love letters keep missing their mark
My song flies
Into that familar silence
Listening for ravens, ravens and bread
And sometimes in the endless waiting
You send to me a brief moment of peace
Keeping alive that strange thing
In the no-man’s land between truth and lies
Meeting me here again
Oh, are you now foe or friend
Meeting me here

Oceans

Don’t cheat yourself
Take time to grieve
Take time to be broken
Wrap your arms
Around the sinking stone
Mourn all that was
Embrace the deep
Your shield now lies broken
Through shattered armor
Feel heart break out from stone
Fountains may cease to flow
But with tears you pan for gold
Don’t cheat the world
‘Cause you know
There’s stories to be told
Build love
Build life
Find grace in all her guises
Give love
Give life
One day she may surprise you
Surrender justice
To the heavens
Her scales now hang broken
Lay down your arms
And dream on Jacob’s stone
Don’t wipe away
The tears of God
How vast is his ocean
Spread your arms
Around the anchor stone
Fountains may cease to flow
But with tears you pan for gold
Don’t cheat the world
‘Cause there's stories
Stories to be told
Build love
Build life
Find grace in all her guises
Give love
Give life
One day she may surprise you
Chase down elusive embers
Buried deep within the pain
Strike the spark, shock your heart,
Dispel the dark again
Chase down elusive embers
Buried deep within the pain
Strike the spark, shock your heart,
Dispel the dark again
Build love
Build life
Find grace in all her forms
Give love
Give life
Let her find you through the storm
Let her find you…

See the Light
© C. Soon 1997, 2021
There was a light, shining in the darkness
Guiding thru the darkness, wise men from the east
Bringing gold, frankincense and myrrh to lay down
at the feet of a little boy
There was a man, living in the wilderness
Come to be a witness, that all may believe
That the light of everlasting life may be found
In Shekinah slain that death might be destroyed
The true Light, born to end the darkness
Offering forgiveness to all who would believe
One small night, broke into our sorrows
Off'ring a tomorrow our minds cannot conceive
What a wondrous day awaits if only we
See the Light, See the Light
Now the light, shines on through his children,
Sent to ev’ry nation, to love as he had taught
Not in words, but in ev'ry thing we do
that we may display the light of truth
He's the light of the new Jerusalem
We will be his people, and he will be our God
No more tears will ever dim the eye, nor goodbyes
And the light of love we share will never die
The true Light, born to end the darkness
Offering forgiveness to all who would believe
One small night, broke into our sorrows
Off'ring a tomorrow our minds cannot conceive
What a wondrous day awaits if only we
See the Light
See the Light, he is already dawning
Though the darkness rage against the morning
Though it fight against the sun, soon the night will be undone
The true Light, born to end the darkness
Offering forgiveness to all who would believe
One small night, broke into our sorrows
Off'ring a tomorrow our minds cannot conceive
What a wondrous day awaits if only we
See the Light, see the Light
See the Light, see the Light

Cradle to the Cross
03:46
|
|||
What could make the maker of all things
Lay aside his glory and his splendor
To amaze both shepherd boys and kings
In a shameless show of love's surrender
Born in the form of our helplessness and hope
Showing us the depths of his heart!
Why did he come to rescue me
Why did he pay that dreadful cost
Caring to seek and save the lost
Such love that even I
Fin'lly realized
He bore my sin and shame and loss
Walking that lonely road from cradle to the Cross
Second birth of innocence on earth
Yet His heart was destined to be broken
Come to take the judgment I deserved
In a day the heavens would be shaken
He came to us in our helplessness and hope
Showing us the depths of his love!
Why did he come to rescue me
Why did he pay that dreadful cost
Caring to seek and save the lost
Such love that even I fin'lly realized
He bore my sin and shame and loss
Walking that lonely road from cradle to the Cross
All my life, I could wonder why
He loved me at so great a cost
Choosing that lonely road from cradle to the Cross
All my life, I could wonder why
He loved me at so great a cost
Choosing that lonely road from cradle to the Cross

And He Came
04:09
|
|||
Somewhere in the night they travel on
They have seen His star, for Whom nations long
All their lives they’ve hoped they would be the ones
To finally gaze upon Wisdom’s Son
And He came
Plain, for all to see
The I AM, the Lamb, the Mystery
As you meet His gaze, tender as the dew
Marvel at His grace, for He came for you
Somewhere in the night His trial goes on
Silently He bears their abuse and scorn
They will lift Him up on a cross of wood
The foolishness of God not understood
And He came
Plain, for all to see
The I AM, the Lamb, the Mystery
Dare to raise your head, look into His eyes
For your debt is paid by His sacrifice
Blinded by the light of the Glorified
See His pierced feet, feel His hands and side
He shall come again, seen by every eye
Who once was born that we may never die
And He came
Plain, for all to see
The I AM, the Lamb, the Mystery
He Who was, is now, evermore shall be
Still today He says, “Won’t you come to Me?”
Still today He says, “Won’t you come to Me?”

He is Our Peace
Words and music
© 2005 Cliff Soon/Bearesheis Music
Once we were darkness, no love for light
Our spirits crying in despair in endless night
Once we were strangers to God and man
Striving for fool's reward, no hope or plan
When we were barred from walking golden streets
He opened the gate; he is our peace.
When holy fire required us to retreat
He became our way; he is our peace.
When we could never hope to be complete
Jesus made us whole; he is our peace.
One day the sun hid his face at noon
Darkness hung o'er that cross, so roughly hewn
One day the curtain was torn in two
Our sins once crimson red, turned white as wool
When we were barred from walking golden streets
He opened the gate; he is our peace.
When holy fire required us to retreat
He became our way; he is our peace.
When we could never hope to be complete
Jesus made us whole; he is our peace.
He broke down the wall
That separates us all
Both from the Father
And from one another
He broke down the wall
That separates us all
Both from the Father
And from one another
When we were barred from walking golden streets
He opened the gate; he is our peace.
When holy fire required us to retreat
He became our way; he is our peace.
When we could never hope to be complete
Jesus made us whole; he is our peace.
From age to age we'll worship at his feet
Ever to proclaim, He is our peace.
No other name could ever sound so sweet
Jesus is his name, Jesus is his name
Jesus is our peace!

Someday this life will be
Faded photographs
In our forever home, forever time
Tasting precious memories
We’ll look back and laugh
And for the rest … we’ll see reasons rhyme
Times we wished would last and times we cried
Times we stood alone and wondered why
Times we treasured up and kept inside
Someday we will see
All things worked for good for you and me
Someday this life will be
Faded photographs
Faint mementos of a distant time
Times we tasted of the joy
That was spoken of
And of the tears to be left behind
Times we wished would last and times we cried
Times we stood the test and times we tried
Times we treasured up and kept inside
Someday we will see …
Some days were a little piece of heaven
Breaking through the grey
Sometimes though our only consolation
Was that we weren’t here to stay
Somehow all our pleasures and our pains
Fit into His plan
Trusting through the trials we can’t explain
We will finally understand
Someday we will see
How He worked it out behind the scenes
Someday we will see
All things worked for good
For you and me
Someday we will see
Faded photographs … of you and me
Someday this life will be
Faded photographs

More to Love
Words and music by Cliff Soon
Copyright Cliff Soon/Bearesheis Music 2013 (ASCAP)
They say it's crazy for us to believe
This promise that we make
Will bind our hearts together
A cure for this world's insanity
This vow we make today
Will keep through stormy weather
So here i consecrate my all to you
Forever to be yours
As long as life endures
Because there's more to love
Not just a feeling, but a sacred gift from God above
A way of living for someone we're always thinking of
This humble pledge I make today
Means that I am here to stay
Because there's more to life
It's filled with promise as we journey on as man and wife
And we'll discover in each other whether rain or shine
We will always find
That there's so much more to love
It's not just a romantic fantasy
The sun is just your smile
The moon your gentle laughter
I'd be a fool to wish that I were free
Your wish is my command
My heart is yours forever
So here I consecrate my all to you
Forever to be yours
As long as life endures
Because there's more to love
Not just a feeling, but a sacred gift from God above
A way of living for someone we're always thinking of
This humble pledge I make today
Means that I am here to stay
Because there's more to life
It's filled with promise as we journey on as man and wife
And we'll discover in each other whether rain or shine
We will always find
That there's so much more
Because there's more to love
Not just a feeling, but a sacred gift from God above

This humble pledge I make today
Means that I am here to stay
Because there's more to life
It's filled with promise as we journey on as man and wife
And we'll discover in each other whether rain or shine
We will always find
That there's so much more to love
So much more to love
So much more, so much more to love ...

Cliff Soon - Sacred Head
05:37
|
|||
Words and music by Cliff Soon

Sacred Head, so still, so silent;
Haloed with a crown of thorns.
Eyes that pierced my soul asunder;
Closed, but I see trails of tears.
Sacred Head, so still, so silent;
Bowed down with my sin and shame.
Lips that spoke of wrath and mercy;
Sealed, but still He calls my name.
Sacred Life, why'd you die for me;
Sacred heart, why'd you break for me.
Sacred hands, bore that cross for me;
Sacred Head, wore that crown for me.
Sacred Head, so still, so silent;
Sketched in scars and lined in pain.
Ears that heard my cries of pleading,
Deaf, but still I kneel and pray.
Sacred Life, why'd you die for me;
Sacred heart, why'd you break for me.
Sacred hands, bore that cross for me;
Sacred Head, wore that crown for me.
I can see the River flowing,
Blood and water from His side.
It is for the captives' groaning
that my Lord, my Life, has died.
I can see the River flowing,
Blood and water from His side.
It is for the captives' groaning
that my Lord, my Life, has died.
Sacred Life, why'd you die for me;
Sacred Heart, why'd you break for me.
Sacred hands, bore that cross for me;
Sacred Head, wore that crown for me.

If I Fall
by Cliff Soon
Copyright Cliff Soon/Bearesheis Music 2003 (ASCAP)
if i fall on the field of battle
bringing hope to some distant land
to free a people living under tyranny
bring me home to my land of liberty
lay me down in this land i love
if i fall trying to save a stranger
some poor soul reaching for my hand
land or sea, flood or raging fire
oh my dears, you know I had to try
so if i fall on this day
don't be wond'ring if there could have been another way
so to my family and friends
if i fall, please forgive me if you can
though you know i would miss
your smile and your touch and your tender kiss
though i pray to return
my life is in the Father's hands
and you know i would do it again
if i fall trying to keep my neighbors
safe behind this ol' thin blue line
all i ask is just a simple favor
please be kind to these friends of mine
as they lay their lives on that blue line
if i fall holding forth salvation
the grace of God offered to all men
hope my life showed a hint of heaven
let love rule where hatred used to reign
(chorus)
because this is my call
to lay down
my life for one and all
who seek to know the meaning of
life, liberty and love
because this is my call
to lay down my life for one and all
so my family and friends
if i fall, please forgive me if you can
'cause you know i would do it again
